Basket bingo raises $4,000 for Hagerstown Children's School

November 05, 2008

Hagerstown Children's School on South Potomac Street in Hagerstown held its annual basket bingo Oct. 19.

Approximately 100 people attended the event at the Western Enterprise Fire Station.

The school raised $4,000 to be used for programs and materials that benefit the students.

Hagerstown Children's School is a nonprofit preschool and kindergarten serving children in the Hagerstown area as well as West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

The school has 132 students who attend at various times during the day and week.

The school recently partnered with Children In Need for the month of October and through the generosity of the school's parents, more than 15 tubs of clothing, toiletries and school supplies were collected and donated to the organization. They then allow children from birth to 21 years to "shop" so that they might feel prepared for school.

The community service project for the month of November is to collect signed holiday cards that will be sent to men and women serving in the Middle East.

The group is hoping to collect at least one from each child/family; that's at least 132.
