Doyle tops Dungan in 57th delegate district race

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Del. John Doyle easily defeated Republican Betsy Dungan in Tuesday's election, outdistancing Dungan by a 1,827-vote lead with all 31 precincts reporting, according to complete, unofficial results.

Doyle, D-Jefferson, collected 5,492 votes compared to the 3,665 votes going to Dungan, according to returns.

Doyle, 66, of Shepherdstown, W.Va., was seeking his ninth consecutive, two-year term to the office, which will pay $20,000 a year starting in January.
