C&O canal heritage hike

BIG POOL - Sponsored by C&O Canal Association. Hikers meet in the visitor center parking area at Fort Frederick State Park. A bus departs at 10 and 11 a.m. today and carries hikers to destinations for return walks of varying lengths along the canal towpath. $10 bus fee and liability waiver required. Go to

FAIRFIELD, Pa. - Foothills Artists Group tour begins with a holiday open house at Willow Pond Farm in Fairfield. Demonstrations throughout the weekend on how to prune lavender.
