Arumugam honored again

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Massachusetts Institute of Technology junior Hemu Arumugam, the former North Hagerstown star, recently was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Runner of the Week for the third time this season.

Arumugam led MIT to a 12th-place finish out of 47 teams at the All-Division New England Championships. He covered the 8-kilometer course in 25:19 to place 27th in the field of more than 300 runners. Arumugam had the second-best finish among Division III runners and was the top NEWMAC performer.

PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- Shepherd fell to Alderson-Broaddus 25-22, 25-16, 25-16 in a WVIAC contest.

The loss drops Shepherd to 11-18, 7-5.
