CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Anyone still hanging on to an absentee ballot for Tuesday's election has until 5 p.m. today to get them to the Franklin County Voter Registration Office.
This year, 3,647 people requested absentee ballot applications, a figure not significantly different than the 3,576 applications voters received in the 2004 election, according to Voter Registration figures.
The final registration numbers of the election show a total of 88,787 registered voters: 50,047 Republicans, 27,739 Democrats and 11,001 people registered with other parties or as independents, according to county figures.
That is an increase of almost 5,000 since November 2007.
The number of newly registered Democrats is more than double the number of new Republicans, 2,656 to 1,071, according to the figures.
