Wind Down Fridays

Stamp expo

The Cumberland Valley Philatelic Society hosts its Fall Stamp Expo 2008. Features a dealer bourse and exhibits. C&O Canal heritage hike

Sponsored by the C&O Canal Association. Hikers meet in the visitor center parking area at Fort Frederick State Park in Big Pool. A bus departs Saturday at 10 and 11 a.m. and carries hikers to destinations for return walks of varying lengths along the canal towpath. $10 bus fee and liability waiver required. Go to

Trick or treat

Shops in downtown Chambersburg, Pa., host trick or treat. A costume contest will be at 1:30 p.m. on Courthouse Plaza. Ball and auction

The Maryland Symphony Orchestra Guild presents its annual ball and auction. This year's theme is "Egypt, Jewel of the Nile." Proceeds benefit the MSO. Ancient Egypt-style attire is optional.
