Friendship club meeting

The Maugansville Senior Friendship Club will meet Tuesday at the TOPS Chinese Buffet at the North Village Plaza. After the meeting, a Dutch treat lunch will follow.

The speaker will be Cathy Fisher, who will talk about the new senior center and how it will serve people's needs.

Don't forget items that will be sent to Holly Place for its resale shop. Clothing or thrift shop items are welcome.

Even though it is Election Day, a good turnout for the meeting is expected.

For information, call Frances Bargiel at 301-739-6748 or Dorothy Smith at 301-745-6355.

Canned food drive

The Salem Reformed Church Youth Group will conduct a canned food drive Nov. 8 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in the Maugansville area.

The youths will donate all of the items they collect to St. Mark's Food Bank in Hagerstown. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Trick or treat

Maugansville is having its trick or treat today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Residents participating in the trick or treat are asked to turn on their porch lights.

Christmas Cards for the Troops

The Susquehanna Bank branches in Washington County have agreed to team up with the PTA at South Hagerstown High School for a Christmas Cards for the Troops program.

The banks will collect Christmas cards until Dec. 12 at all of their branches and the main office. The cards will be sent to the troops in Iraq.

A goal of 10,000 cards has been set by the PTA, so a lot of help is needed by all.
