WAYNESBORO, Pa. - A rally held in Frederick, Md., on Wednesday morning served as an opportunity for area builders to learn more about their participation in building a home through ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

The family in need of a better home has not been publicly revealed, although representatives of Dan Ryan Builders have said the house will be built in a town somewhere along the Pennsylvania-Maryland border.

"I consider it an honor to take the lead on this project and look forward to changing the lives of a deserving family," said Dan Ryan, president and CEO of the Maryland-based home-building company partnering with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

The project will span from Nov. 7 to Nov. 14 and be aired in January 2009.

Two-hundred team members attended the 2 1/2-hour rally at Maranatha Community Church of God. Show producer Conrad Ricketts presented a behind-the-scenes video of how the house will come together in less than a week through the efforts of thousands of volunteers and tradesmen.

The theme for the sixth season of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is "Heroes in the Community." The Emmy award-winning show airs at 8 p.m. Sundays.

Cassie Cataline, a spokeswoman for Dan Ryan Builders, said that area businesses and organizations have contributed heartily to the cause. To volunteer or learn about sponsorship, visit www.drbextreme.com.

"I never could have anticipated how our entire team along with our amazing building partners would embrace this project and this family. I am truly humbled by their generosity," Ryan said in a news release.
