Hagerstown man killed on Greencastle Pike

October 30, 2008|By HEATHER KEELS

A Hagerstown man died Wednesday when his car crashed into a utility pole on Greencastle Pike, Maryland State Police said.

Stephen Daniel Manley, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, Cpl. Phillip Martin said.

Manley was driving south when he lost control on a curve near 14544 Greencastle Pike at about 3:15 p.m., Martin said. The 1999 Chrysler 300 he was driving crossed over the northbound lane and left the roadway, where it struck a utility pole, Martin said.

Police believe speed and wet roadways contributed to the crash, Martin said. Manley was the only occupant of the Chrysler, which was the only vehicle involved, he said.
