Washington County considers partnership with Chinese city

October 30, 2008

The Washington County Commissioners took no action on a proposal Tuesday to develop a partner community relationship with Jinhua, China.

Larry Glenn, director of workforce development for Kaplan College, presented the proposal, which he said is similar to the the Sister City program.

Partner community relationships help foster cultural links and can be used to promote economic development, County Administrator Gregory B. Murray said.

Jinhua is a city in China's Zhejiang province. It has a population of more than 4.5 million people.
