Manor Church seniors club holds covered-dish dinner

October 26, 2008

Members of the Manor Church Senior Citizens Club held their regular covered-dish dinner and meeting Oct. 1.

It was a productive day, starting with a bake sale of goodies made by club members. Proceeds from the bake sale will go toward the club's Christmas dinner, which will be Dec. 3 at Washington Square United Methodist Church at 538 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown.

Pastor Jay Zepp gave the blessing for the dinner, and the business meeting was opened by the club president. All stood to pledge the American flag.

Plans were made for the November Thanksgiving dinner, to be held at Mountain Gate Family Restaurant at 10503 Buchanan Trail East in Waynesboro, Pa.

Earl Hamilton gave an explanation of a program being developed for senior citizens.

He stressed the importance of attending the meeting to learn of opportunities and help available to seniors.

Birthday gifts and door prizes were given. A prayer shawl was given to Pansy Stover, a club member.

Iolene Cass presented the shawl and Zepp offered prayers of comfort and healing.

Naomi Thomas offered a message in song as Sara Jane Palmer accompanied on the piano.

Many thanks to the faithful girls in the little blue aprons and to Richard, our faithful photographer.

The meeting closed with a prayer by Thomas.

Members hugged each other and said "I love you." It was a beautiful day.
