Rams advance to WVIAC semis

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Fourth-seeded Shepherd downed fifth-seeded West Liberty 5-1 in the quarterfinals of the WVIAC tournament. The Rams advanced to face top-seeded Charleston.

Shepherd 3, Bluefield State 0

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Amanda Hall had 14 kills for Shepherd in the Rams' 25-18, 25-13, 25-19 WVIAC victory over Bluefield State (3-13, 1-9).

Emily McCoy added five kills and three blocks, and Rebecca Russell had five kills and three aces for the Rams (9-17, 5-4).

MEN'S SOCCER



Shepherd 8, Gallaudet 0

WASHINGTON -- Alex Jones scored two goals to lead Shepherd past Gallaudet (0-16) on Thursday night.

Patrick Norfolk had a goal and two assists for the Rams (6-7), while while Matt D'Amico, Bobby Doyle, Jeff Sandusky, Gregory Khan and Jeffers Frazier each added a goal.

Wagner Dacosta recorded the shutout in goal.

Erb qualifies for Boston

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Jonathan Erb, of Fairplay, recently placed 261st out of 3,823 finishers in a Boston Marathon-qualifying time of 3:09:07 at the Columbus Marathon.

His wife, Jennifer Erb, finished the race in 4:55:58.
