Two people were killed in separate accidents Saturday morning in the Tri-State area.

A Mercersburg, Pa., man was killed in an accident in Morgan County, W.Va., and a teenager from Carroll County, Md., was killed in an accident in Frederick County, Md.

  • The accident in Morgan County occurred in the 3700 block of Martinsburg Road, police said.

Jesse Godsey, 36, was killed when his 1998 Dodge Intrepid drifted off the road about 6 a.m. and struck a tree about four miles outside Berkeley Springs, W.Va., said Cpl. Tony Link of the Morgan County Sheriff's Department.

Link said he wasn't sure if Godsey was wearing a seat belt.

  • The accident in Frederick County occurred on Md. 31 near Union Bridge, Md., according to a press release from Maryland State Police in Frederick, Md.

Matthew Boles, 17, of Westminster, Md., was pronounced dead at the scene of the three-vehicle accident, police said.

A passenger in his car, whose identity was not released, was taken to Carroll County General Hospital in Westminster, then the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in critical condition, police said.

The crash happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. Police said Boles was westbound in a Nissan when his car spun on the wet road, crossed the center line and struck a Chevrolet head-on.

A Lincoln then struck the Chevrolet from behind. The Nissan and the Lincoln skidded off the road and struck each before stopping in a wetland area, police said.

People who were in the other vehicles were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries, police said.

Md. 31 was closed for about 3 1/2 hours, police said.
