PREP VOLLEYBALL



ELDERSBURG, Md. -- Cayla Broadwater had 15 blocks and 14 kills, but it was not enough as No. 3 Williamsport fell to Liberty 25-23, 14-25, 25-12, 25-17 on the road Thursday.

Loganne Smith had 19 assists, Kelly Beard had 16 digs and 10 service points, and Lacee Hershberger added five kills for the Wildcats (11-3).

JV: Williamsport, 2-0.

No. 4 Clear Spring 3, North Hagerstown 1

CLEAR SPRING -- Amanda Jenkins had 16 kills and 17 digs to lead Clear Spring over North Hagerstown, 25-22, 25-22, 10-25, 25-11.

Emily Pinkham added 13 kills, nine service points and five blocks, and Lindsey Lacy had 11 kills for the Blazers (11-2). Megan Micco had 22 assists and Katie Blickenstaff added 17 assists.

Anna Wade led the Hubs (7-6) with 11 kills, while Megan Plume had 20 assists, Maria Burgan had five kills, Alyssa Collier had 17 digs and Courtney Bowlus added 12 digs.

JV: North, 2-0.

No 7. McConnellsburg 3, Everett 0

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -- A'leese Dickerson had 12 kills and four aces to help McConnellsburg sweep Everett 25-16, 25-19, 25-17 in the Sideling Hill League.

Brittany Ott had 22 assists and 10 digs for the Spartans (17-1, 14-1), while Megan Eichelberger had seven kills, Michelle Baker had five kills and Lisa DeShong had nine digs.

This win makes McConnellsburg and Chestnut Ridge co-champions of the Sideling Hill League. The Spartans earned the No. 1 seed in the PIAA District 5-A tournament.

JV: Everett, 2-1.

St. Maria Goretti 3, Bishop Walsh 0

Natalie Ferretti had 13 service points, including six aces and eight assists for Goretti, which defeated Bishop Walsh 25-9, 25-11, 25-18.

Catie Breslin added six service points, five kills and 10 assists for the Gaels (5-10) while Alex Penn tallied five aces and seven digs and Catie Wolfe had four aces.

JV: Bishop Walsh, 2-1.

Fannett-Metal 3, Southern Fulton 2

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. -- Ashley Wigfield had nine kills, 15 digs and three blocks to lead Southern Fulton in a 25-23, 25-19, 16-25, 19-25, 15-6 Sideling Hill League loss to Fannett-Metal.

Natasha Bard had 13 kills, Cierra Cobalt had 27 assists and Jeni Hager had 16 digs for the Indians (6-11, 3-11).

JV: Fannett-Metal, 2-0.

Martinsburg 3, Mercersburg 2

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Martinsburg (9-2) rallied from an 0-2 deficit to defeat Mercersburg Academy, 16-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-13.

Anika Kempe had nine kills and seven digs, Whitney Clark added 11 service points and six digs, and Abby Schwing had 30 assists for Mercersburg (7-5). Sarah Kolanowski had 15 digs, 14 kills and five blocks.

Hampshire 3, Washington 1

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- Samantha Larcomb had six kills, four aces, eight blocks and 13 digs for Washington in the Patriots' 20-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-15 loss to Hampshire.

Rachel Rawn had 11 assists and Krysta Mayville chipped in with seven kills and four blocks for Washington (1-17).

JV: Hampshire, 2-0.

Jamie Horine scored both of Grace Academy's goals as the Knights defeated Cumberland Valley Christian (8-10-1) in the semifinals of the Mason Dixon Christian Conference Tournament.

Spencer Horst and Luke Bunting each had an assist, while Kenny Frederickson recorded seven saves for the shutout for Grace (18-1-1).

No. 7 Berkeley Springs 4, Frankfort 1

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Matt Martin scored his 100th career goal during the Indians' victory over Frankfort in a Class AA sectional final.

Martin's 100th was his second goal of the game.

Josh Wise added two goals and an assist for the Indians (15-5-1), while Jacob Wise and Cody Riffle each had an assist and Zane Mochiber made five saves.

The Heights 2, No. 2 Mercersburg Academy 0

POTOMAC, Md. -- Mercersburg Academy fell to 9-4-1 with the loss to The Heights on Wednesday.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Jamie Hill scored on a direct kick after a foul with three minutes left in the game to lift Martinsburg over Musselman in a W.Va. Class AAA sectional semifinal.

The Bulldogs (14-5-1) held the Applemen (14-7) to one shot.
