Father-son weekend

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Camp Joy El will host Father-Son Connection weekend from 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9. The weekend is designed for boys in grades one through eight and their dads.

The weekend's speaker is Neil Suders. Activities include go-kart rides, sports, hiking, canoeing, climbing a tower and other games.

The cost is $113.25 for a father/son pair, and $51 for additional sons. Lodging and meals are included in the cost.

Homeless shelter improvements

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg YMCA invites families and their children ages 12 and older to lend a helping hand to some Chambersburg residents in need. On Nov. 1 the groups will leave the YMCA at 2 p.m. to travel to the Franklin County Shelter for the Homeless. Once there the families will help prep their walls for painting by scrubbing and sanding them. The event is free. Advance is registration is required at the Y's front desk by Thursday, Oct. 30. Slime fall festival

BIG POOL - A Slime Time fall festival will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, corner of Ernstville Road and Tedrick Drive. The event begins with a free pizza party followed by skits, games, prizes, Chadder's Theatre, and a visit to Professor Gizmo's Lab. Registration is due by Tuesday, Oct. 28, by calling 301-582-2540.
