Hagerstown man charged with armed robbery

A Hagerstown man has been charged with armed robbery in connection with an Oct. 5 incident on Shawley Drive, Washington County District Court records show.

Ricky Edwards Jordan II, 21, of 556 Salem Ave., was charged with armed robbery, robbery, theft, second-degree assault, carrying a handgun and using a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence, court records show.

The victim of the robbery told deputies he was riding with a friend in her pickup truck when she stopped in the 18000 block of Shawley Drive and a man who had been riding in the back opened the victim's door, told him to get out, took his cell phone and demanded his money, Sgt. Roy Harsh of the Washington County Sheriff's Department wrote in charging documents. The victim said the man punched him in the face and took his wallet and two DVDs, Harsh wrote. The value of the stolen property was about $171, Harsh wrote.

Jordan was identified with assistance from the Washington County Narcotics Task Force based on descriptions of his tattoos, and the victim and his friend identified him in a photo lineup as the man from the robbery, Harsh wrote.

Jordan was being held Thursday at the Washington County Detention Center on $150,000 bond, court records show.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. in Washington County District Court.
