Costume dance set for Saturday

A costume dinner dance, sponsored by the Williamsport United Methodist Youth, will be held Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall, 25 E. Church St., with music by DJ "Swinging Dave" Moyer. Tickets cost $10 and will be available at the door. The menu includes spaghetti, garden salad, breadsticks and dessert. Show choir to perform

The Williamsport High School Show Choir Fall Show is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Walking tour planned Sunday

On Sunday, weather permitting, a Historic Lantern Walk around Williamsport with members of the Town Museum and local churches will be held starting at 6 p.m.

Participants are asked to meet at the swimming pool parking lot in Byron Memorial Park and bring a flashlight. The walk takes participants around town with some interesting facts, legends and stories. Once back at the Springfield Farm Barn, the group will enjoy stories by the legendary "Veiled Lady" of Williamsport. If you do not want to join in the walk, come to Springfield Farm barn, 14 Springfield Lane, at 7:30 p.m. to hear the stories and enjoy refreshments.


In case of rain, the walk will be canceled and the haunting tales at the barn will begin at 7 p.m. For more information, call 301-223-7229.

Comedy show takes place Nov. 8

Williamsport Volunteer Fire and EMS will hold a comedy show at the fire hall on Brandy Drive on Saturday, Nov. 8. Tickets cost $45 a couple and includes dinner, comedy show and DJ/dance. A cash bar will be available. Due to adult content, you must be 21 to attend. Doors open at 5 p.m., the dinner will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by the comedy show. Band bonanza to be held Nov. 15

Williamsport Community Band's 150 bonanza will be Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Williamsport Fire Hall.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

The first and every 10th ticket drawn wins $30. Ticket No. 1 will be raffled off during the evening and guaranteed to be in the last five tickets with one of those being the grand prize winner of $1,000. The dance follows the raffle. Williamsport merchants are planning something special for Halloween trick or treat this year. On Friday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 10 p.m., there will be carnival-type games at shops, a costume contest with prizes for the winners, pumpkin decorating and a hayride. For more information, call 240-329-4286.
