Charles Town Council member says Huntfield development experiencing power outages

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A Charles Town City Council member said Monday night that there have been recurring problems with power outages in the Huntfield development where she lives.

Amy Schmitt said that "blips" in power have been occurring since the summer and one occurred again Saturday at about 8:30 a.m.

Schmitt said the power disruptions can be problematic and expensive, especially when it comes to computer equipment.

Schmitt said Allegheny Energy officials have not been able to explain the power interruptions.

Charles Town leaf pick-up to begin next Monday

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Fall leaf pick-up will begin next Monday in Charles Town, city officials said at a Charles Town City Council meeting Monday night.

During the period, residents can rake their leaves to the edge of streets, where city workers will collect them, council member Don Clendening said.

The pick-up usually extends into December, Clendening said.

Trick or treat set for Halloween night

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Trick or treat will be held in Charles Town on Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., city officials said at a Charles Town City Council meeting Monday night.
