Hagerstown man cited for DUI in Greencastle



GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- A Hagerstown man was charged with driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Sunday, police said.

Greencastle Police said in a press release that Joseph Robert Senft, 24, was stopped at East Baltimore Street and Spring Grove Avenue at about 1:40 a.m.

Police said they saw a lit cigarette tossed from the driver's side window of Senft's vehicle.

Senft -- whose blood-alcohol content was .16 percent, which is above the legal limit -- was charged and sent to the Franklin County Jail, police said.




Car stolen from Chambersburg Mall lot



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A Chambersburg resident's car was stolen from the Chambersburg Mall parking lot last week, police said.

The car was a red 1996 Chevrolet Corsica with a Pennsylvania registration of GST3837, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The theft happened on Oct. 15 between 6 and 9 p.m., police said. The car had been parked near Sears.




Police seek person who shot, wounded cat in McConnellsburg



McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said they are looking for the person who shot a cat last week.

An East Patterson Street resident's gray calico cat was shot through the lower jaw with what might have been a .22-caliber gun, police said in a news release.

Trooper Gary G. Hibner said the cat survived and was taken to a veterinarian.

The shooting happened on Friday between 7 a.m. and 7:50 p.m., the news release said.




Hagerstown police respond to calls



Hagerstown police responded recently to the following incidents:

Sunday, Oct. 12:

o At 8:30 p.m., second-degree assault was reported at Fairground Park.

Wednesday, Oct. 15:

o At 11:07 a.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the first block of South Cannon Avenue. A GPS device and cell phone were taken.

o At 12:28 p.m., damage to property was reported in the area of Wayside and Potomac avenues.

Thursday, Oct. 16:

o A stolen vehicle was found in the 100 block of North Potomac Street.

o A vehicle tag was reported stolen. Virginia tag number YFG4294 was taken.

o At 1:40 a.m., concerns about a vulnerable adult were reported in the 100 block of West Franklin Street.

o At 10:56 a.m., theft was reported in the 200 block of Mill Street. A wallet was taken.

o At 12:27 p.m., theft was reported in the 300 block of South Burhans Boulevard. A small purse was taken.

o At 3:45 p.m., an assault was reported in the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

o At 6:01 p.m., a second-degree assault was reported in the 400 block of Clarendon Avenue.

Friday, Oct. 17:

o At 12:16 a.m., property was found in the area of Hamilton Lane and Charles Street. A Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop and HP Compaq NX9010 laptop were reported taken.

o At 9:18 a.m., theft was reported in the 100 block of South Potomac Street. A purse was taken.

o At 10:45 a.m., drug violations were reported in the 200 block of Jefferson Street.

o At 2:41 p.m., theft was reported at Wal-Mart, 17850 Garland Groh Boulevard. Clothing was taken.

o At 5:27 p.m., damage to a motor vehicle was reported in the area of Maryland Avenue. Someone dented a vehicle.

Saturday, Oct. 18:

o At 2:04 a.m., damage to property was reported in the 400 block of North Locust Street. A glass door was damaged.

o At 10:15 a.m., an underage alcohol sale was reported at Carla's Deli, 23 N. Locust St.

o At 3:13 p.m., theft was reported in the 900 block of South Potomac Street. A blue, white and pink, 16-inch Huffy bicycle was taken.

o At 7:51 p.m., first-degree burglary was reported in the 900 block of Summit Avenue.

o At 9:19 p.m., property was found in the 1600 block of Wesel Boulevard. A blue-and-silver, 26-inch, 18-speed Pacific bicycle and red, 20-inch Next bicycle were found.

o At 10:37 p.m., theft was reported. Cash and a vehicle title were taken.

o At 11:02 p.m., theft was reported in the unit block of East Avenue. A City of Hagerstown trash can was taken.

Sunday, Oct. 19

o At 10:24 a.m., damage to property was reported in the 800 block of Oak Hill Avenue. Plastic patio furniture was damaged.

o At 11:43 a.m., theft was reported at CVS, 34 N. Cannon Avenue. A crockpot and boxed food were taken.
