CLEAR SPRING - A 68-year-old Hancock woman was thrown from a vehicle this morning during a crash involving a commercial vehicle and a car on Interstate 70, according to Maryland State Police.

The accident happened in the eastbound lane near the 15-mile marker, troopers said.

Kay F. Douglas was thrown from a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu after it collided with a 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, struck an embankment in the median and overturned. Douglas was taken to Washington County Hospital, where she was in stable condition, according to police.

The driver of the Malibu, Floyd J. Keefer Sr., 81, and Bertha Keefer, 78, both of Hancock, had injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Ricky L. Sebold, 50, of Salisbury, Pa., was not hurt in the accident, police said. He was charged with making an unsafe lane change, police said.
