Andrews family reunion held in Williamsport

October 19, 2008

The 17th annual Andrews reunion was held Sept. 28.

The reunion was hosted by Catherine Andrews and her family.

Fifty-four decendants and friends of the late Robert J. and Gladys M. (Day) Andrews gathered at Byron Memorial Park in Williamsport.

Don Andrews welcomed family and friends. Then Rod Bonebrake asked a blessing on the food and the day.

Everyone enjoyed their lunch and time for catching up. Beatrice Andrews brought some pictures to share with the family. One picture was of the late Robert J. Andrews in a parade when he came home from World War I. Other pictures showed the family at gatherings through the years. They brought back great memories.

There were lots of guessing games. Patty Andrews Bonebrake won two - one for butterscotch candy and one for Hershey candy. Terry Andrews won a jar of pennies. Clint Moss guessed the closest to the weight of a pumpkin. Ashley Andrews Moss won the cowtail guess. Linda Andrews Miller and Brenda Andrews Younker each won a jar filled with Tootsie Rolls. Zella Andrews won a five-way tie for a wrapped puzzle guess. A 21-question game was won by Linda Andrews Miller. Elizabeth Andrews won the Halloween word game - finding even more words than the host. The last game - S'more Knowledge ended in a tie between Abigail Andrews and Ashley Andrews Moss.

Of course, the day would not have been complete without the cake walk. Don Andrews controlled the music and Debbie Andrews Lightner called the winner. There were so many cakes and treats that everyone who participated in the walk won something to take home.

Door prizes were won by Patty Andrews Bonebrake, R.J. Conway, Melissa Yount, Jo Ann Andrews Derryberry and Tim Bonebrake. Beatrice Andrews is planning to host the reunion next year.
