Hagerstown Day Nursery holds fundraiser

Hagerstown Day Nursery, founded in 1800 and one of the oldest nonprofit charities on the East Coast, hosted the most recent and biggest benefit night to date at Hempen Hill BBQ.

On Oct. 1, friends and supporters of the Day Nursery dined at Hempen Hill BBQ for lunch and/or dinner showing a certificate of support from the Day Nursery.

At the end of the day, Kathy Reeder, proprietor of Hempen Hill BBQ, tallied up the food sales and sent $224.11 to Hagerstown Day Nursery equaling 15 percent of their food sales.

"This is the easiest fundraiser we've put together yet" said Laura Bendell, president of the board of directors at Hagerstown Day Nursery.

This puts Hempen Hill BBQ's total donations given to local community charities at $3,241.93. Benefit nights are hosted at Hempen Hill BBQ any Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday of the week and can be scheduled by calling the restaurant and requesting a date. For more information, call 301-797-4455.
