W.Va. residents charged with civil rights violations

October 18, 2008

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Two Falling Waters, W.Va., residents were charged with a felony count each of civil rights violations on Friday after allegedly trying to force a black family to move from their residence, police said.

Police said in a news release that Bruce Poole, 48, and Kendra Sulick, 37, are accused of repeatedly harassing the family by shouting racial slurs at them, making loud noises at all hours of the night, driving recklessly near their home and threatening to harm them.

Neighbors reported that they were verbally attacked because they had befriended the family, police said.

Police said they began investigating the complaints last month.

Poole and Sulick were arraigned and released on $10,000 bail, the news release says.
