Pancake breakfast



The Maugansville Ruritan Club will hold its first pancake breakfast of the season Saturday from 6:30 to 11 a.m. at the club on Maugans Avenue.

The menu will include all the pancakes and Hoffman sausage you can eat, plus orange juice and coffee. Tickets cost $5 for adults and $3 for those ages 6 to 12. Those 5 and younger will be admitted free. All proceeds support the many charitable programs the Ruritan Club sponsors.

Blood drive



The Maugansville Ruritan Club hosted a Red Cross blood drive Sept. 15.

Thirty-three donors gave blood that day. James L. Martin and Curtis A. Martin attained milestones by giving their ninth and eighth gallons, respectively. The Ruritan Club and Red Cross thank all who attended the event.

The next blood drive is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 10, from 2 to 7 p.m.

Church event



Maugansville Bible Brethren Church would like to invite children ages 4 through sixth grade to its weekly Awana Club meetings. Kids are invited to the meetings Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. On Wednesday, Oct. 22, Family Night will be held.

Coaches sought



Maugansville Little League is accepting letters of interest for managers of all divisions for the 2009 baseball season.

Letters of interest may be given to any board member or mailed to P.O. Box 266 Maugansville, MD 21767. Please indicate which division you are interested in managing.

Deadline for submitting letters of interest will be Nov. 10.

Old-fashioned cruise-in



On Oct. 25, an old-fashioned cruise-in will be held at 222 E. Oak Ridge Drive, in the South Pointe Shopping Center in Hagerstown. This event is being hosted to help raise money for the Humane Society of Washington County. The event will be from 1 to 5 p.m. and will feature music from the 1950s, antique cars and fresh made ice cream.

One free small cone will be given away for every donation made to the shelter. There will also be a drawing to win a $5 gift certificate or a T-shirt. The event is an open invitation for all antique car enthusiasts to bring their vehicles and share their love of old cars.

All donations made at this event will benefit the 5,600 animals received at the shelter annually.
