Hagerstown Community College's medical assisting students, along with the registered medical assistants of American Medical Technologists, will observe National Medical Assistants Week Oct. 20 to 24.
Since 1984, RMAs and others in the health care community have honored the vital role that medical assistants provide in the delivery of health care to patients. A medical assistant is a multi-skilled professional who combines clinical and administrative responsibilities to assist in all aspects of medical practice in a physician office, hospital, clinic, government agency or laboratory. The 2008 NMAW theme, "Taking the Pulse of our Nation," emphasizes their commitment as vital members of the health care team.
