Judge delays disposition for Washington County teen in drug case

October 16, 2008

A judge on Wednesday morning found a local teenager to be involved in the distribution of marijuana.

Narcotics Task Force agents and a confidential informant who works with the agents testified Wednesday during a brief trial before Washington County Circuit Judge Donald E. Beachley, who was sitting in juvenile court.

The 17-year-old sold $700 worth of marijuana to the confidential informant during a prearranged deal, the officers testified. Task force agents monitored the sale, which took place in the area of Valley Mall, and took the teenager into custody after the informant purchased the marijuana.

The judge commended the agents for their work on the case.

Beachley delayed disposition, the juvenile equivalent of a sentencing, because another case against the teenager is pending.

The 17-year-old was released to community detention in the care of his mother. He is an honor roll student at a local high school, school officials said.
