SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.- The seventh annual Scarborough Society Gala, held Aug. 15 at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, raised $18,000 to support the activities of the Shepherd University Scarborough Library.
The event was attended by 250 guests. The theme for this year's event was based on the best-seller "The Last Convertible" by Anton Myrer.
The sponsors for the event were BB&T Wealth Management, represented by Rod and Lynn Frye, and Jefferson Security Bank, represented by Steve and Kathy Morris. Valley Proteins Inc., represented by Mike Smith, company owner, and his wife, Debra Smith, sponsored the band Souled Out.
Scarborough Society President Ray Alvarez applauded the event for its success in raising funds as well as its significance in increasing community awareness of the society's existence and purpose.
