Salon customers donate items to Humane Society of Washington County

October 12, 2008

Sagittarius Salon & Spa, owned by Jordon Knicley and Marsha Knicley-Massoud at 1136 Conrad Court in Hagerstown, dedicated September to helping raise donations for the Humane Society of Washington County by offering a free gift for each donation that was received from their clients. The response was overwhelming.

On Sept. 30, Sagittarius staff member and front desk and marketing coordinator Kelly Graham carried in her third armful of items and stated there were a lot more in the car. It was obvious at the beginning of Sagittarius' collection campaign that their customers were going to be very generous.

"We were actually forced to make a delivery to the shelter the second week of our collection campaign," Graham said. "The room where we were storing the items was brimming so full that we couldn't get another thing into it." The Sept. 30 delivery was the fourth delivery made to the shelter.

Graham said customers would come in for their appointments and notice the promotional information on their collection. They would leave and make a special trip back to the salon to bring donations. Paul Miller, executive director of the shelter, said the shelter was very impressed with the donations brought in by the salon.

"Sagittarius' owners Jordon and Marsha have always been very supportive of the shelter. This is another example of their generosity and that of their customers," Miller said.

Donations included but were not limited to toys, treats, large bags of food, towels, face cloths and kitty litter.
