Hagerstown Trust donates counted coins to Children in Need

October 12, 2008

Beginning in July 2008, Hagerstown Trust Co. began to offer a new service - bulk coin counting.

The bank installed new self-serve coin counting machines in each branch.

Customers can bring in their loose, mixed change in any amount, pour it into the machine and it will sort and count the coins providing the customer with a receipt that they can take to the teller and get the cash or deposit it into their bank account.

The fee for the use of this machine is 6 percent and all of the proceeds from the use of these machines will be donated to a different local charity each month. For August, Children In Need was the charity selected.

In addition, the bank set up collection boxes at each location so that customers could use their favorite branch bank as a dropoff point for school supplies. August's proceeds from the coin machines generated $614.28 for Children In Need.
