October 08, 2008

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A Franklin County woman was killed Tuesday afternoon when the car she was driving collided head-on with a dump truck near Letterkenny Army Depot, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Colleen Rae Craig, 33, of Fort Loudon, Pa., was killed in the 4:26 p.m. crash in the 5000 block of Letterkenny Road just outside what was once the main gate of the depot, Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Chief Deputy Cooroner Paul T. Reed, Conner said.

Craig died of head and neck injuries, Conner said. There will be no autopsy, he said.

Police said in a news release that Craig, who was in a Honda Civic, was going east when she missed a curve and collided head-on with an eastbound Mack dump truck driven by Diane Louise Saltzman, 53, of Greencastle, Pa.

Saltzman, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Chambersburg Hospital with minor injuries, police said. Craig was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
