Dental program receives donation



EMMITSBURG, Md. - The Seton Outreach Center, staffed by the Daughters of Charity and volunteers, were awarded a donation for their dental program from The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Frederick.

The Dental Program, one of several outreach programs, provides dental services to low income adults in Frederick County who have no dental insurance.

Villa Maria adds staff members



Villa Maria of Washington County: A Behavioral Health Program of Catholic Charities announces the addition of two new staff members to its outpatient mental health center.

Villa Marie, 229 N. Potomac St., provides outpatient mental health and psychiatric services to all ages regardless of faith or belief, focusing especially on the underserved populations of Washington County.

Ann Lucas has joined the Villa Maria staff and will be working in the Hagerstown, Frederick, Md., and Westminster, Md., offices.

Lucas is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and received her degree from Vanderbilt University.

Lucas also has a master's degree in community health promotion from West Virginia University. Lucas has worked in psychiatric services for many years and is particularly interested in the needs of the underserved.

Caroline Cardwell joined the staff full-time this summer.

Cardwell has a master's degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. Cardwell has a wealth of knowledge in child and parenting therapy with special needs children.

Recently, she has operated the youth intensive outpatient program through East Ridge Health Systems in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Her area of interests include therapeutic art and play techniques for children ages 7 to 17 in a group milieu as well as group, individual, family therapy and parenting classes.

Cardwell will provide early childhood mental health screening and treatment to childcare centers through Apples for Children as well as providing services to adults.




Dentist joins local dental care team



Cumberland Valley Dental Care announces that Dr. Brian Motz has joined its team of dental professionals.

Motz, a native of Hagerstown, is a graduate of Towson University and Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland. He has a special interest in oral surgery.
