Shepherd drops a pair

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Idrissa Sesay scored a goal and assisted on another to lift Columbia Union past Shepherd University 2-0 on Sunday.

On Saturday, Shepherd (4-5) dropped a 1-0 decision to Ohio Valley in the WVIAC. Garrison Evans scored for Ohio Valley.

Rams sweep two matches

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd earned a 25-13, 25-12, 25-12 win over Salem International on Friday night and added a 25-7, 28-26, 25-12 win over Ohio Valley on Saturday.

Julie Robertson had six kills and 14 digs for Shepherd (6-13, 4-5 West Virginia Conference) in the win over Salem International. Emily McCoy added six kills and six blocks.

Lauren Jeschelnik had seven kills and nine digs in the win over Ohio Valley. McCoy added nine kills, while Rebecca Russell had seven digs and Virginia Rogus added 15 assists.

BCA Cyclocross Challenge

MIDDLETOWN, Md. -- Michael Gallagher of Chambersburg, Pa., finished fourth in the men's elite 1-2-3 race, while Jessica Gallagher won the women's category 3-4 race at the BCA Cyclocross Challenge on Saturday.

Hagerstown's Brian Fouche finished 15th in the men's elite race.

In the men's category 3-4 race, Joel Moats of Chambersburg finished 26th.

In the men's masters 55-plus race, John Kuska Jr. of Shepherdstown, W.Va., finished fifth.

The first Western Maryland Half Marathon will be held Saturday in Hancock, beginning at 8 a.m.
