MOUNT AIRY, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police are investigating a traffic accident in Mount Airy that killed a woman who was a passenger on her husband's motorcycle.
The accident happened about 4 p.m. Sunday on Md. 27. Police the motorcycle collided with a car that had turned onto the road and cut the motorcycle off. According to police, 50-year-old Joseph Lyon of Frederick, Md., tried to swerve his motorcycle around the car but crashed into it.
Lyon's 48-year-old wife, Joanne, suffered fatal injuries.
Authorities say a 17-year-old girl was driving the car. Her name has not been released and charges have not been filed.
