Nicholas C. Butler, son of George L. Butler of Williamsport, and Patti L. Butler of Boonsboro, has recently been promoted to staff sergeant (E-5) in the U.S. Air Force.
Butler is with the 718 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and is an instrument and flight controls systems journeyman specifically working with the KC-135 Stratotanker.
He has served two tours of duty in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Butler is stationed at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan.
