Ghost walk set at Fort Frederick

The Friends of Fort Frederick Inc. and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources have announced the return of the Ghost Walk at Fort Frederick State Park.

The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 25.

The night will include a guided tour of the park. Along the route, visitors will encounter ghostly travelers from Fort Frederick's past. The fort is 252 years old.

Visitors will walk through a guided "haunted" trail where they will encounter costumed actors re-enacting historical situations from the fort's past.

The Ghost Walk will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Gates will close at 9, but visitors who are in line will still be permitted to go on the tour.

The tour costs $5 for those 6 and older. Those younger than 6 will be admitted free.

Sturdy and weather-appropriate clothing is a must, as terrain can be rugged and/or muddy. In case of rain, the event will still be held (barring lightening and thunder.) Food will be available for purchase while waiting to begin the tour. Also, refreshments will be served in the nearby CCC museum after the tour.
