Fulton County woman killed when car crashes into truck

October 03, 2008

ST. THOMAS, PA. -- A Fulton County, Pa., woman was killed Thursday morning when her car collided with a brick-hauling truck in the 9400 block of Lincoln Way West.

Elton Ruth Duvall, 72, of McConnellsburg, Pa., was pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:05 a.m. accident in St. Thomas Township, according to Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner.

Conner said Duvall was driving a 1997 Subaru Legacy west on U.S. 30 when she crossed the center line for unknown reasons and collided with the eastbound brick delivery truck. The truck was not carrying bricks at the time of the accident, Conner said in a news release.

An autopsy is scheduled Friday at the Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown, Pa., Conner said. The autopsy will determine whether Duvall died as a result of the accident or whether she died of a medical condition before the crash, he said.

The crash is under investigation by the coroner's office and Pennsylvania State Police.

Lincoln Way West between Mercersburg Road and Apple Way was closed for about three hours, Conner said.
