Police briefs

Hagerstown police responded recently to the following incidents:

Sept. 24:

o At 9 a.m., theft was reported at South Hagerstown High School, 1101 S. Potomac St. Food was taken.

Monday:

o At 1:52 p.m., theft scheme was reported in the 1500 block of Wesel Boulevard.

Tuesday:

o At 3:58 p.m., possible child abuse was reported in the 700 block of Marion Street.

Wednesday:

o At 1:26 p.m., forgery and theft were reported in the 500 block of Northern Avenue.

o At 6:38 p.m., hit and run, damage to a motor vehicle and damage to property was reported in the 200 block of Summer Street.  

o At 9:30 a.m., a weapon was confiscated in the 200 block of North Potomac Street.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded recently to the following incidents:

Thursday:

o At 9:59 a.m., theft was reported in the 17900 block of Garden View Road. Someone took part of a swingset.

o At 10:35 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at the Smithsburg Family Practice. Several screens were cut on the business' window.

o At 1:46 p.m., theft was reported on Main Street in Keedysville. A chrome vehicle bumper was taken from a front yard.

o At 3:35 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 16800 block of Hampton Road. A shed was damaged.

o At 4:10 p.m., theft was reported in the 17400 block of Bakersville Road. A riding mower and two push mowers were stolen.

o At 4:29 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 17100 block of Short Drive. Someone threw stones against siding.
