BRUNSWICK, Md. -- Taylor Belella had 18 service points and 17 assists to help Smithsburg win its MVAL Antietam opener, 25-9, 25-10, 25-7, over Brunswick on Wednesday.

Colleen Black had nine kills, Katie Sprecher had seven service points and five kills and Mallory Petty tallied nine service points for the Leopards (5-2, 1-0).

JV: Smithsburg, 2-0.

North Hagerstown 3, Century 0

Megan Plume had 24 kills for North Hagerstown as the Hubs swept visiting Century, 25-14, 25-16, 25-10.

Alyssa Collier added 17 digs for the Hubs (5-2) while Akilah McCall had seven kills and Maria Bergen and Anna Wade had six kills each.

JV: North, 2-0.

Mercersburg 3, MSD 1

FREDERICK, Md. -- Taylor Riley had 15 kills, five digs, four aces and two blocks to pace Mercersburg Academy to a 20-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 win over Maryland School for the Deaf.


Abby Schwing had three kills, 19 assists and an ace for the Blue Storm, while Sarah Kolanowski added 10 kills to go with six digs and two blocks. Anika Kempe had nine digs, five kills and three aces, while Armine Garcia-Parker had three kills, three blocks and two aces and Whitney Clark had four digs, two kills and two aces.

Goretti 3, Washington 1

Courtney Thompson had 15 service points, 13 kills and nine digs to lead St. Maria Goretti to a 25-23, 26-28, 25-18, 25-11 win over Washington on Tuesday.

Natalie Ferretti had 13 service points, 17 assists and five kills for the Gaels (2-8), while Catie Breslin had nine assists, seven kills and seven service points points, Alex Terhorst had three service points and four kills and Ellie Burke added three service points and four digs.

Samantha Larcomb led the Patriots (0-11) with 11 kills, five digs and three blocks. Rachel Rawn chipped in with eight assists and Krista Mayville added six kills and five digs.

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. -- Jefferson improved to 12-0-2 with the shutout of Mercersburg Academy.

Rachael Porter had 19 saves for the Blue Storm (5-4).

SYKESVILLE, Md. -- Boonsboro outshot South Caroll (5-2) 10-7 in the shutout loss.

Becky Smith had six saves for the Warriors (4-3).

St. James 1, Maret 0

SAINT JAMES -- Ben Louderback scored in the 50th minute to lift Saint James to its first Mid Atlantic Conference win in three years.

Louderback struck from 15 yards out on a crossing pass from Nick Yaraghi to help the Saints (5-5) break the scoreless tie.

Maret outshot Saint James, 23-7, with Saints goalie Steve Pritchard making 20 saves.
