September 30, 2008

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A 20-year-old Martinsburg man has been charged in the armed robbery of a woman early Monday near North Queen and Second streets, Martinsburg Police Department Detective Cpl. Scott Doyle said.

Lamar Lorenzo Taylor of 127 Thornberry Drive was being held Monday night at Eastern Regional Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond set by Magistrate Sandra L. Miller.

When police responded to reported robbery just before 5 a.m., the victim told an officer that she was walking to work when approached by two men wearing dark clothing, Doyle said in the news release.

One pointed a handgun at her and took money from her purse, and both then fled.

The victim called 911 and police were later able to develop a suspect, Doyle said. The woman and witnesses later confirmed the defendant was one of the suspects and the man who had the gun, police said.
