Products and services: The business consists of The Diaper Chefs (co-owned with Connie Mendoza-Gaskill) and Personal Kids Books. The Diaper Chefs are custom-made, boutique diaper cakes for baby shower gifts and centerpieces, and new baby gifts. "We also make first birthday cakes and baptisim/christening cakes. All cakes are made with fully useable diapers, accessories and clothing." Personal Kids Books are personalized books for babies and children that feature the child's information (name, age, hometown, friends and more) plus a picture of the child on the dedication page. "We offer deluxe hardback books and minibooks."

How did you get into your business, or what motivated you to start it? Lauren sold on eBay and had a store under the same name where she sold baby and children's clothing and personalized books. In December 2007, Lauren launched her own Web site under the same name. In May 2007, Connie-Mendoza Gaskill joined Lauren in the Diaper Chefs venture. Shortly after, a portal site ( was designed with links to two stores - The Diaper Chefs ( and Personal Kids Books ( Lauren, a reading teacher with more than 15 years of experience, always has promoted literacy and believes the children's personalized books motivate and inspire children to want to read and to enjoy doing so.
