Two seed collection events scheduled

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Potomac Conservancy is partnering with the Potomac Valley Audubon Society to hold two "Growing Native" seed-collection events in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle this fall.

One of the events will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the society's Yankauker Nature Preserve, north of Shepherds-town, and the other will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the society's Eidolon Nature Preserve in Morgan County, W.Va.

The program recruits volunteers to collect seeds of native trees and delivers the seeds to state nurseries where they are nurtured into small tree seedlings.
