Two men charged in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Two men were charged with credit card fraud Friday after a stolen credit card reportedly was used at three stores, police said.

Martinsburg Police said a man got a call from his credit card company about suspicious activity involving his card. The card owner then found that his vehicle window was broken and his briefcase and credit card were missing, police said in a news release.

A police officer went to the businesses where the card was used and identified the users through security video, the release says.


Police said $383.24 worth of purchases were made with the card at three stores.

Stephen E. Rogers, 38, of 704 Virginia Ave. in Martinsburg, and Derek S. Rogers, 26, of 411 Faulkner Ave., Apt. 2, in Martinsburg, were charged with three counts of credit card fraud.

There was no indication if they are related.

They were being held Friday night at Eastern Regional Jail on $30,000 bond.

Washington Co. Sheriff's Dept. seek man charged with burglary, theft

The Washington County Sheriff's Department on Friday was searching for a man charged with burglary and theft in connection with daytime residential burglaries throughout Washington County, Investigator Greg Alton said in a news release.

Investigators are looking for Jeremy Jackson Allen, 22, who had been staying at 20320 Youngstoun Court, Apt. 3011, Alton said.

Firearms, jewelry, electronics, cash and DVDs were taken from various homes, according to the news release.

On Wednesday, after a four-month investigation into the burglaries, officers served a search warrant at that address. Investigators found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and some stolen property when they served the warrant, Alton alleged.

Four other people have been charged with burglary and theft in connection with the investigation, Alton said.

Thomas Kenneth Allen, 21, of Hagerstown; Kristin Taulton, 19, of Middletown, Md.; Crystal Bradshaw, 22, of Hagerstown; and Douglas Wallech, 28, were arrested and served with charges, Alton said.

Investigators also were looking for the owners of power tools recovered during the investigation. The tools are marked with the names of Mike and Travis. Anyone with information about the tools may call Alton at 240-313-2185.

Hagerstown Police respond to incidents

Hagerstown Police responded to the following incidents:


o At 12:30 p.m., damage to property was reported at North Hagerstown High School, 1200 Pennsylvania Ave. Someone sprayed graffiti.


o At 11:36 a.m., burglary and theft of a vehicle was reported in the first block of East Washington Street. A white 1996 Cadillac with the Maryland tag number 3BNW12 was taken.

o At 12:04 p.m., damage to property was reported in the 600 block of South Potomac Street. A grave figurine was damaged.


o At 9:12 a.m., burglary and theft was reported in the 100 block of South Potomac Street. A Smith & Wesson black revolver was taken.

o At 10:28 a.m., burglary and theft were reported in the 600 block of Frederick Street. Cash was taken.

o At 4:01 p.m., damage to property was reported in the 1000 block of Rose Hill Avenue. A statue was taken.
