Two men arraigned on attempted burglary charge in Martinsburg

September 25, 2008

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Two men were arraigned on counts of attempted burglary Wednesday after a reported break-in at the Martins Landing apartments several hours earlier, according to Martinsburg Police Department and Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.

Xavier Juan Roberts, 19, of 25 Halsey Court, Martinsburg, and Jamill Jovan Guidotti, 19, of 1602 Chelsey Paige Drive, Ashburn, Va., were arraigned by Magistrate JoAnn Overington, who set a $5,000 bond for both defendants.

At 12:52 a.m., a resident of an apartment at 2500 Martins Landing Circle called 911, saying that three men were kicking in his door, according to a news release from the police department. The resident tried to brace the door by placing his feet against it and his back against an interior wall, but the door was kicked with such force that the resident was pushed through the drywall, the release said.

Once the men entered the apartment, they realized someone was inside and fled, police said.
