Family Support Resource Center schedule

The Family Support Resource Center has released its schedule of fall workshops and classes, including sign language, parenting children with special needs and an evening devoted to helping parents understand the special-education process.

The schedule is as follows:

o Sign Language classes, Thursdays from Sept. 25 through Nov. 13, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Marshall Street School.

o Advocating in Harmony (becoming an effective partner in your child's education), Thursday, Oct. 2, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Marshall Street School.

o Signing with Young Children (ages 5 and younger), Tuesday, Oct. 7, 9:30 to 11 a.m., Potomac Center conference room, 1360 Marshall St.

o What Is Individualized Education? (an overview of the special-education process), Thursday, Oct. 9, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Marshall Street School.

o Friendship Building Strategies, Thursday, Nov. 6, 6 to 8:30 p.m., Marshall Street School.

o Parenting Children with Special Needs, Thursday, Nov. 13, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Marshall Street School.

The sign language classes cost $20 for the eight sessions, but the remaining classes and workshops are free. Free child care is available, but registration is required. For more information and to register, call 301-766-8221.
