Washington County students receive awards from Towson

Towson University freshman Jessica Shuff, a 2008 graduate of North Hagerstown High School, and freshman Steven Whitt, a 2008 graduate of Smithsburg High School, have been selected to receive the Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship for the 200809 academic year.

Shuff, an applied mathematics major, is the daughter of Laura Rauch and John Shuff of Hagerstown.

Whitt, a biology major, is the son of Ronald and Lori Whitt of Hagerstown.

The Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship is a donor-funded endowed scholarship for students majoring or intending to major in the Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics. Awarded annually, the scholarship covers the full cost of in-state tuition and fees for the academic year and is renewable up to four years.

Recipients of the Fisher Scholarships receive additional benefits, including guaranteed admission into the Honors College at Towson University, undergraduate research opportunities, opportunities to pursue internships in business, industry and government agencies, and opportunities to study abroad, among others.
