September 22, 2008

ROYERSFORD, Pa. - The Spring-Ford Area High School Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of former Clear Spring High School band director John E. Eckstine Jr., has been selected to perform at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Annual State In-Service Convention, to be held from April 22 to 25 in Valley Forge, Pa.

Eckstine, who also taught band programs at Williamsport and Boonsboro high schools, has been teaching at Spring-Ford Area High School in Royersford for nine years.

The band was chosen from more than 130 band audition recordings submitted for evaluation from performing ensembles throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

The high school's award-winning Golden Ram Marching Band, also under the direction of Eckstine, has been invited to march in the nationally televised Hollywood (Calif.) Santa Parade in November.
