Fort Ritchie Community Center

CASCADE - Dr. Joseph Jacobs Jr. has been hired as executive director of the Fort Ritchie Community Center.

Jacobs holds a Ph.D. in sport psychology from the University of Maryland, a master's degree in administrative science from Johns Hopkins University and a master's degree in sport administration from the University of Maryland. He is a board member of the National Council for the Accreditation of Coaching Education and a member of the National Faculty with the United States Sports Academy.

Jacobs has a history of assignments that involve efforts to establish health and wellness programs for various populations, and most recently taught at Penn State-Mont Alto and McDaniel College in the exercise science and physical education programs.

O'Neill Physical Therapy Services

Dr. Lorraine O'Neill, physical therapist and owner of O'Neill Physical Therapy Services, recently completed an advanced course in the evaluation and treatment of wrist pain and injuries in Nashville, Tenn.

The course was part of the American Physical Therapy Association's annual conference.

Strickler Agency

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Patricia Abbott has been hired as a commercial account executive at the Strickler Agency.

Prior to joining the agency, Abbott worked as the commercial lines manager and account executive for an independent insurance agency, and most recently as a senior field underwriter for NGM Insurance.

Abbott earned a bachelor's degree from Wilson College and is working on completing the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

Shepherd University

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Diane Melby has been named vice president for advancement at Shepherd University.

Melby has served as associate vice president of the Spirit of Shenandoah Campaign at Shenandoah University since 2004. She provided leadership for the comprehensive campaign and guided the campaign from $7.5 million to $55 million in three years.

Melby also served at Shenandoah as interim vice president of development from 2007 to 2008, dean of the School of Continuing Education from 2002 to 2004 and director of the Division of Continuing Education from 2001 to 2002.

Melby previously was employed by Lord Fairfax Community College as acting director of instruction and student services from 1999 to 2001, coordinator of work-based learning from 1996 to 2001 and tech prep program coordinator from 1992 to 1996.

Melby earned an Ed.D. in higher education from Nova Southeastern University, an M.Ed. in special education from James Madison University and a bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation from Slippery Rock University.

Dana Wright and Hui Liu recently joined the staff at Albright Crumbacker Moul & Itell, LLC, CPAs.

Wright has obtained her bachelor of science degree and joined the team as a staff accountant in June.

Hui has obtained her bachelor of science degree and CPA designation and joined the staff as an in-charge accountant in September.

The Bodyworks Massage Center

Karey Lucas, NCTMB, RMP, of The Bodyworks Massage Center recently completed the Medical Massage for Cervical Spine and Upper Extremities continuing education class at Synergy Healing Arts Center and Massage School in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.

Taught by Dr. Larry Plotkin, the class included information about massage treatment options when working with clients with neck and shoulder tension and related ailments.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Dr. Brian Motz has joined the staff at Cumberland Valley Dental Care.

Motz most recently practiced in Hagerstown.

Motz is a graduate of Towson (Md.) University and Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland. He has a special interest in oral surgery and has taken additional rotations during his training at the University of Maryland.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jean Rosenberger and Matt Gunder of the Waynesboro office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA were recognized for excellent performance in August.
