HCC men finish fourth

INDIANA, Pa. -- The Hagerstown Community College men's team finished fourth at the IUP Invitational.

Jeremiah Wilt was the Hawks' top finisher, placing 10th in 28:23. Justin Cole (28:37) was 14th, Corey Centofonti (28:38) was 15th, Mike Podlesnik (29:18) was 23rd and Wade Miller (29:44) was 27th.

In the women's race, HCC's Jordan Atha (25:57) finished 22nd.

Smithsburg: Ben Daniels 323 yards rushing, 3 TDs; Cullan Ganley 40-yard TD pass to Justin Scott; Ganley, Cody Betson interception each.



Run for the Bathroom 8K

BURKITTSVILLE, Md. -- Hagerstown's Doug Oates was the overall winner in the Run for the Bathroom 8K, finishing in 27 minutes, 54 seconds.

Boonsboro graduate Eamon Connelly was third overall in 31:36. Boonsboro cross country coach Becky Walter was the top female finisher in 36:35, good for 15th overall.

Bev Black (37:23) and Mary Vielinski (38:11) -- both of Boonsboro -- were second and third in the women's race.


Grier misses Q-School cut

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -- Hagerstown's Ashley Grier missed the cut in the LPGA sectional qualifying tournament at Mission Hills Country Club.

Grier finished with back-to-back 2-over-par 74s that gave her a four-day total of 297. She missed qualifying for the final stage of the Q-School by four shots.
