Entrepreneur conference to be held in Hagerstown

David W. Edgerley, the secretary of Maryland's Department of Business and Economic Development, will speak at a two-day conference on business and entrepreneurial opportunities in Hagerstown.

The third annual Entrepreneurship Conference will be Sept. 25 and 26 at the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown at 32 W. Washington St.

Edgerley will give the welcoming remarks.

The keynote speakers will be Samuel J. Lloyd, the department's assistant secretary for small business, and Mike Deming, the CEO of Demcore Development, a Hagerstown company.

The key presenters will be Kate Davenport of EcoVentures International, a nonprofit organization that works on environmentally oriented business projects, and Mikal McCartney of the Microenterprise Council of Maryland, a nonprofit network for small businesses.


Sessions will be on different aspects of starting and running a business, such as best practices, environmentalism, educational opportunities and government resources.

Awards for Model Entrepreneur of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year will be given at a luncheon.
