Construction project management course

This fall, Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education is offering a new course in construction project management on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from Sept. 23 through Oct. 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Classroom Building on HCC's main campus.

Taught by HCC instructor Ray Harbaugh, the course will provide students with an overview of the project management function in the building construction process. Students will review the project management activities including contract award, scope review, submittals, project planning, scheduling, monitoring and adjusting, accounting and cost control, as well as project closeout. Administration of the project including bonding, progress meetings, inspection and job cost analysis will also be discussed.

Entrepreneurship seminar Sept. 25

The Technical Innovation Center at Hagerstown Community College will offer the next installment of its executive entrepreneurial seminar series on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the TIC, conference room 208, with a topic review by board chair Roger Siboni of E.piphany.


Titled "Organizing Your Business Around the Customer," the seminar will focus on the basics of acquiring and keeping satisfied customers, as well as the importance of profits instead of volume.
